An old student

http://www.macarthuradvertiser.com.au/blogs/notes-from-the-editor/lots-to-admire-in-our-schools/1518295.aspx
Check out this link to Jeff McGill's Weekly Column from the local newspaper. It is aways a thrill to see ex-students making it in life.I am very proud of Jeff and what he has accomplished.Who would have guessed that this young man (woops old now) who played tricks on me and teased me about my height and didn't do well in Biology would make it and be so successful. Then again, I always knew he would because he had a passion to write(just not that passion for Biology LOL) and he had the drive and determination. Isn't that what it's all about. Drive and determination. I must get Jeff to write my retirement notice in the paper. I have been teaching for 34 years this year and still have a few more left. If you are an ex-student and read my blog would you please drop me a line so I know what you are up to.
I will find the poem both Jeff and I wrote way back in 1985.

Butterflies and Hearts

I don't know if I am too late for this but life has been so hectic this past week with my daughter in hospital and all the other life things.
I love these butterflies the Cuttlebug can do.I used the Sizzix to cut the heart that I embossed with a Disney heart which is a Cuttlebug one. I bugged the background of the card and inked everything with Mauve and blue Versa Color. The bling is kaisercraft.

Kaisercraft, Fiskars and Cuttlebug

I love brown with most colours especially blue and pink. I now love it with orange. I couldn't decide whether to do this card in brown and orange or brown and blue so I decided to use all 3 colours.
I embossed the brown Colour Chord cardstock and used my watercolour colour pencils to colour the flowers. I like the effect it gave. I used my Fiskars punch to do the edge of the blue and you can notice my favourite embellishments, the Kaisercraft pearls. There are 4 eyelets and a ribbon of unknown source and a sentiment sticker.

Kaisercraft Tri-Shutter Card2

Here is another Tri-Shutter card I made last weekend. Notice it opens differently from the previous one. I have used Kaisercraft stamps and Scrapbooking Australia border papers. I have used Charcoal Versa Cube ink and there are some introduced flowers and a brad on the front along with a sentiment that is a sticker.
These cards are so much fun to make.I hope to do some more exotic ones when I have time and I am sure my little Cuttlebug will enjoy embossing some too. Keep an eye out!!!!

Tri-Shutter Card

I made this card based on the ideas from Bonny. Here is her direct link to her tutorial. http://craftiblog.wordpress.com/2009/05/12/2009-05-12-5-12-x-11-tri-shutter-card-template/
Her cards are sensational and you need to have a look. Mine are more simple. I have adjusted her measurements to the metric system that we have here in Australia.I have used the Scrapbooking Australia borders and have inked everything with Pinecone Versa Color cubes. The flower is a chipboard one cut with the Sizzix. The Sentiment is a Kaisercraft stamp and the ribbon is from FTI.

Kaisercraft and Scrapbooking Australia

If you want a quick and easy card then use these borders by Scrapbooking Australia. All you need to do is cut along the square where you want to and glue into place.I have inked the white card with Charcoal from Versa Color Cubes and put a Kaisercraft pearl in the centre of the 2 flowers. The sentiment is a wooden Kaisercraft stamp that has been inked with white Versa Color.
In this day and age quick is so useful.

Ecosystem Excursion

It is that time of the year again where I take year 11 on an Ecosystem Excursion. It is always a lovely day even though we do lots of work. 4 teachers took 60 students down to the local bush today and we did lots of measurements and observations. That old car in the river used to be on top of the bank. Looks like the idiots have pushed it into the river. What a shame. We got a little muddy after all the rain yesterday.I am tired tonight after all the walking we did.

Nestabilities Flower Card

Here is a card I made the other night while baby sitting. It follows the sketch for The Pink Elephant Challenge. I have used 2 different shades of orange. The bugged paper is Scrapbooking Australia and has a blue tint through it hence the blue semi -circle and flower etc.The flower has been made from the Spellbinders Nestabilities called Peony. I used the 3 smallest dies to create this 3D flower. I cut half way up one side and then overlapped the flower along the sides and glued back into the original shape but smaller. Hence it curves. The flower centre has a Kaisercraft pearl and the sentiment is a Making Memories rub on. I have had the lace for ages.

Been Quiet

You may have noticed I have been quiet lately. The past few weeks I have not had time for me and hence I have not been able to create. I miss this. School has been hectic with reports and assessment tasks to mark and set. I have had some scrapbooking camps and crops to attend and also have had family issues to deal with. Then there has been house work-----yeah right.
My eldest daughter is now in hospital and is 25 weeks pregnant but has mayor complications. She will be in there as long as the doctor decides. Her infection is easing but her blood pressure is still low. The amniotic fluid is still escaping due to the rupture. All the prayers are needed for our little baby to survive. Melanie is OK but it is the baby that needs a miracle. I know it is all in God's hands but if you are able to some prayers would be greatly appreciated. I am doing as much as I can to help them out with the kids. I am over there tonight and there all day tomorrow.
Hopefully life will be back to normal soon and we will all be happy.

Mauve and brown card

I love brown with most pale colours. This is a very simple card made from Bazzill cardstock with a section of a border from Scrapbooking Australia. Wish is part of the border The bow is a wire edged one and has been twisted into shape. The ric rac is brown and the white border was punched by a Fiskars border punch.

Black and white card

This card is a quickie. I used Scrapbooking Australia borders and my new Fiskars Punch and the dragonfly is a chipboard shape from SALT. I used white Vera Color ink to ink a round the edges. The sentiment is a sticker.
This card can be used for both males and females.

Kaisercraft stamp and Monogram SON card

http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/2009/05/tpe-challenge-15.html

Here is another card I made for the Monogram card challenge at Pink Elephant Challenges. Before you comment I know the S is upside down but then again it looks normal in my opinion. LOL.
Once again I used scraps from my pile. The sentiment is a wooden Kaisercraft stamp.

Monogram DAD card

Here is a male card for your special DAD. I have used staz-on ink to stamp DAD onto these lovely Italian tiles. The rest are scraps from my pile.

Cuttlebugged Gloss Stickers and Chipboard.

This weeks challenge at Cuttlebugspot is to emboss something that isn't cardstock or paper. I was in my element here but could have created forever if I had the time.
The big flower has been bugged and inked and it is a chipboard flower. The border on both the cards is a gloss sticker sheet. I have bugged it and sanded it so the design stands out. The sticker sheet I used has berries on it. They come with other designs. I love them.

My 3 darling grandchildren had loads of fun in this box last Saturday morning. Brian had bought a bar-be-cue with Big Kev's Stimulus money and while he was putting it together these 3 Munchkins were having fun in the box.

I had to make a card last night even though I had a cold and felt so tired because I got my new Fiskars threading water punch. I also found this stamp in my collection that I forgot I had. I have coloured the cake with watercolour pencils. The sentiment is Kaisercraft wooden stamps and the paper is Infusion Basic Grey. The ink is pinecone Versa Color.

Dabber and Crackle Paint

I decided to do a window which shows I love Dragonflies and texture. The Dragonfly is a white chipboard shape from SALT as is the big chipboard flower.I Crackle painted the dragonfly with a Tim Holtz product and then went over it with a Pearl Dabber. The pink card and chipboard flower have been bugged and the Pearl Dabber has been all over both of them. The patterned paper is Basic Grey Infusion ans it too has been pearlised and the word love in the window.

Kaisercraft and blue, medium blue, green and white colour challenge.

Here is the card I did for the Pink Elephant Challenge. The butterfly is made from white chipboard and is from SALT as are the little flowers. I used my light blue Souffle Pen to do the squiggles and the flower centres.
The sentiment and pearls are Kaisercraft. The ribbon is unknown as I have had it for ages.
You cannot really see that I have inked the butterfly in green and light blue.

Box

Here is a box that has been decorated and is ideal to give a nice little present in. The top has bugged patterned paper that has been sanded to give that shaded appearance. Several bugged flowers have been cut out and glued onto the bugged paper. The paper mache box has been painted and patterned paper from Treehouse Memories has been glue onto the box with some ric rac added.

Wedding Card

The embossed part of this card has had gesso applied to patterned paper before it was embossed. Not only did I get rid of the ghastly colour and pattern I also added bulk to the paper, which made the embossing stand out further. I used a paint brush to apply the Gesso and hence you can see the lines. I also didn't cover it with a heavy coat as I wanted some of the colour of the patterned paper to show through. This added to the rustic appearance.
The sentiment has been bugged onto metallic cardstock and sanded.
The embossed Gessoed patterned paper is on top of gold metallic cardstock. The ribbon and flower are an unknown source.

Mother's day Card by Jessica

Here is the Mother's Day card Jessica made for her Mum for Mother's Day while she was at my place. She has it hidden in her room and when I was over there last week she showed me where she had hidden it. Jess was so proud of her artistic card for her Mum. Mel should love it as I didn't help Jess she made the creation all by herself.
Jess chose orange as it is Mel's favourite colour.
