Club Member of the Month

Look what I received last night at our club meeting. I wasn't there as I was home in bed sick and couldn't talk. Brian went and accepted it for me. It was for all the work I did on the October Long Weekend with the kids activities. I wasn't expecting it. Was nice to be appreciated. I received one in 2006 also.

Me

I still don't have my voice back but my body is feeling a lot better than it did yesterday. As I was relaxing today and just playing with my cards and tinkering I was using left overs from other crafts I have dabbled in in the past. it got me thinking. How many others out there are like me? I bet lots. It would be fun to write a list of past crafts we have done and see how many of these can give us new ideas for our scrapbook layouts and card making. i know I have used many an idea in scrapbooking from other crafts I have done in the past.

My List
sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, patchwork, leatherwork, cottage craft, folk art, glass painting, fabric painting, teddy bear making, doll making(stuffed ones),lampshade making, cake decorating( didn't get far kept eating the icing),stretch sewing, pattern making.

I am sure i have missed a few. LOL. Imagine how much money I have spent on the "have to haves."

At least it has kept me busy over the years and out of trouble.

Cuttlebug Double Die Close up

This just shows you a close up of the embossed double die and the small chipboard heart. I used Versa Cubes to ink the chipboard LOVE and heart and then put Kindy Glitz over them.

Cuttlebug Double Dies

This is the Disney Heart which is a double die. I used the mat A with 2 A5 cutting mats which had the die and cardstock sandwiched to cut this heart out. Then I used the traditional method of embossing with the 2 B mats to emboss the heart. The mini heart is from chipboard and I have a set of 4 hearts which I only used part of one to emboss on this small chipboard heart. Because the heart is so small I had no trouble sandwiching it between 2 B plates.

Cuttlebug close up card with Gesso and DM

This just shows a close up of the effect you get when you use Gesso, ink and Dimentional Magic to unwanted patterned paper.

Cuttlebug Gessoed Card and Dimensional Magic

This card shows what I have done with the patterned paper that was Gessoed and Bugged. Who would guess it was the same patterned paper. The braid is a left over from my making lampshade era. The metallic cardstock is from SALT and I have used Dimensional Magic on the embossed part of the paper. This is the negative embossed side and I ran the Dimensional Magic along the dips in the design to give a shiny appearance. The "love" has also had Dimensional Magic added to it.I have no idea where the flower came from, it was a present.

Cuttlebug and Gesso

Gesso is a wonderful medium that can be used on any surface. I have been using it for years, especially during my folk art era when I was painting wood and metal. When using it with paper or cardstock it adds strength to the paper and also texture if you want that. It has a rough surface that allows paint to grip to it and you don't have to use as many layers of paint when you use Gesso as an undercoat. Cropworks will be doing a product description and technique soon so keep an eye out there. So the added strength is a plus when using the cuttlebug. This picture shows you the paper before being Gessoed, the paper after being Gessoed and the Paper after being Gessoed, bugged and inked.

Suspense

Now to keep you in suspense until well after I have my breakfast. I don't have a use for this cardstock anymore and I will never use it again as is. So instead of throwing it away I did something to it. it is amazing what it turned out like. I bet you all have patterned paper etc that you find ghastly or just cannot use. You can alter it and make it look new or different to fit into any card or page layout.

Cuttlebug 3D Single Bauble

Sick of the traditional colours for Christmas? Why not try Pink and Silver. I just love putting this metallic cardstock through the Cuttlebug. I get it from SALT.They have so many colours. The "For You" was bugged from a Christmas Decoration and cut to this size and "with Love" was bugged from one of their borders. I silver inked one and Kindy Glitzed the other. I slightly sanded around the edges of the silver bauble.

Cuttlebug 3D Single Present and Close Up

A side view and a close up view to see the Cuttlebug folder used.

Cuttlebug Card

I made the card into a single stand up present. All my double cards can be made into a single version.I love these cards if I may say so. LOL. So many possibilities. I am working on many of these possibilities at the moment and keep a watch out for more.
Possibilities
1.Stockings 2.Bells 3. Cup Cakes 4.Baby Feet/Hands 5.Dress 6. Shirt 7. Words
8. Anything.

Cutlebug Double Bauble card close up

Just a close up of the baubles to see how they were bugged, sanded and inked.
The gold bows were from some stickers my friend Karin in Switzerland sent me.

Cuttlebug double bauble card and Kaiser Stamps

This card is made on the same principle as the presents and hearts card. The baubles were bugged, lightly sanded and inked and the sentiments were stamped using Kaiser Christmas Stamps.

Cuttlebug double present card

Here is another version of my stand up card I said I was going to design. The wrapping paper for the presents were Cuttlebugged and lightly sanded. There is ribbon from Cropworks and Bazzill from Cropworks plus Versa Cube inks. The red Bazzill bows I drew and then transferred onto the cardstock and inked.
I am having fun with these cards.

What a Day

What a day!!! I have been feeling unwell for a few days now and have been dragging myself to school. Today I finally almost lost my voice-it is very squeaky and my throat is sore and all my muscles ache and I feel tired. I think tomorrow on my day off I will do very little, just rest and do reports.
Then when I came home I found Amanda still sick. She has been sick for ages now and finally I told her to go to the hospital. She has gastric and was put on a drip. She is home now and resting.
Brian has a sore back from helping me in the garden on Sunday.
Lets hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Card template

This is the card template that I made up. I have not included the measurements because you can make it any size you like.

Cuttlebug heart with Metal close up

This shows the metal flower centres up close. I have also made the same card type using stars instead of hearts and I will show it when it is finished. I have more ideas to substitute instead of the hearts. eg Christmas Baubles, presents, Christmas trees and more. So stay tuned to see them done.

Cuttlebug Heart card with metal

I designed this card myself for the camp Debbie and I ran recently. The hearts sit up and the strip on the base helps to allow the hearts to stand in place. I used Kaiser papers to cover the hearts and strips to match inside. I cut the circles of metal from the Cuttlebug embossed folder. I made a sheet of metal flowers and inked it with Staz-on.The embossed metal makes good flower centres.I still have some left to use on more projects.

More Birthday

Melanie and I on the day. Not a good one of me. I need a hair cut and a colour. Better than none. Also one of the rare ones I get of Amanda looking pensive.

The Cake

This is the bear cake Melanie made. It is so cute. I must case this for a card or a page layout.

Chloe's family

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. Here is Chloe's family. Daddy, Mummy and big sister Jessica.
Love the cake Melanie made for Chloe. They call Chloe Bear so the fitting cake was a bear. Melanie is such an awesome cook and pays attention to fine detail. Unlike me who thinks smack it all together and that's it. I would rather be spending time scrapping etc. LOL.

Brian's Birthday Cake

I made Brian his own birthday cake so he would feel special. Cooper sitting on Dada's lap. Both enjoyed the chocolate cake. They are best buddies.

Birthdays

On the 1st Nov 2007 Melanie went into labour and we thought she would have Chloe on Brian's birthday. However, everything slowed down and Chloe was born the next day 2nd Nov. This year both Chloe and Brian shared their birthday.

Jessica the big sister is such a Princess and so girly and is in her Disney outfit for the party. Chloe is gorgeous in pink and enjoying her birthday cake.

Cuttlebug Christmas Tree and Staz-on.

This is the same folder but on silver cardstock this time.

After sanding it I wiped some orange Staz-on over the raised surface. The wishes and star are also Kaiser and I have used Kindy Glitz to highlight.

Cuttlebug Christmas Tree and kaiser Stamps

I love Christmas and hence love the Cuttlebug Christmas Trees. I also love metallic cardstock with the embossing folders. The gold cardstock from SALT was sanded after being embossed. Because it has white behind the gold the sanding will show this up after the gold has been rubbed away. The star and the wishes are from Kaiser and they have been stamped and popped up. I used Kindy Glitz on the star and around the edges.
The card is a metallic card also.

Cuttlebug metal close up.

This shows a close up of the metal that has been embossed. It was fun working with metal. One safety precaution is be careful after you have cut the metal in case there are jagged edges and you might cut yourself. To flatten the metal after I had cut it I put a piece of cardstock over it so I didn't run the risk of injury and applied pressure.
The ric rac is Basic Grey and alittle on the fury side which is nice.

Cuttlebug metal embossed and Kaiser stamps

This card was made using metal and after it was embossed using the Cuttlebug I ran some staz-on ink over the raised parts. I then cut out layers of the circles and matted them. Some parts have less ink than others but that is fine.
I have since cut some of these circles and used as embellishments. I will share some of these later.

Birthdays

I had a great day today. It was Brian's birthday and it is Chloe's tomorrow but Melanie had a party for Chloe today. So it was a joint party day. I will add photos tomorrow when i upload them from my camera.
Mel, Amanda and I all put in and will pay for Brian to hire Harley Davidson for the day. he has wanted one of these rides for years and you should have seen his face when he opened the envelope and saw my birthday wishes and the certificate. I haven't organised the ride yet as I wasn't sure what type of Harley he would like and when to rent it. Looks like it will be next year. i can hardly wait-I love Harley Davidson's.
Here is the certificate I printed out for Brian

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
This certificate entitles you to a days hire of a Harley Davidson. To be taken when you want to and to take your wife for the ride.
Enjoy.
Love from
Rose-Anne, Melanie, Gavin and Amanda.

I have added the title bar

Who says I don't know how to do things on here? LOL.
I will now go through and put titles on all my works.
Thanks Mel for asking me to do this. You made my day and I felt excited that you liked what I have done.

Me Layout

A very simple layout of me through the years. This will go in my me album.

One page mini-album

This is the rectangular version of the mini-album made from one page I posted during the week. I love these albums. So many uses. This one outlines what I did each day in December with all the celebrations.

Friday was a hot day here in Sydney and I went for a swim. This was my 3rd swim for the season. I think I only went for that many swims the whole of last summer-what summer????
I took Brian out for dinner on the Friday night as it is his birthday on the 1st and we will be having a joint birthday party with Chloe on the Saturday. I wanted him to feel special on his birthday. We went to the new "Ribs and Rumps" restaurant. Was a little too much for me. Luckily we went for a walk afterwards.

Cuttlebug Odd shape card

Another card designed by me and using the Cuttlebug. This folder has so many uses from background to buttons and in this case flower centres.
I popped up the sentiment stamped by using Kaiser Stamps.

Cuttlebug With Love Card

Just a plain card made using the Cuttlebug.

I emossed the cardstock and the title using the Bug.

The ribbon is from Finishingtouch ideasa nd the flower is from SALT.

This rose I bought just after my Father died. I planted it and whenever it blooms I think of my Father.

I chose red because it is one of my favourite colours and I have always loved red roses.

In Memory of my Loving Father Kenneth Cox whom I miss every day of my life. I cannot believe it has been 9 years since he went to Heaven. He was a wonderful man to so many people and I wish he was still here to laugh and talk to. One day we will meet up again but until then I have my wonderful memories. I love you Father.

Ken died on 27-10-1999.

Cuttlebug patterned paper and chipboard

This is the second page of the double layout I did of my first day in Melbourne holiday with Dave and Ros.Not only did I Cuttlebugged the chipboard but I put the patterned paper through so it all tied in.

Cuttlebug chipboard

These photos were taken on one of my many holidays down to Melbourne to visit my good friends Dave and Ros. This holiday will always remain special to me because it was the last time I had wonderful memories of Dave before his health began to deteriorate. We laughed together and went on a few car drives around Melbourne and surrounds.

Cuttlebug chipboard close up

These are a few of the chipboard pieces I put through the Cuttlebug and embossed after I had painted them. I then inked around the edges of the corner and hearts.
I painted the chipboard with Gesso first then when it was dry painted over it with Kaiser paint, Candy. The Gesso is good to use on raw chipboard as it allows the paint to adhere better and I only had to do one coat of Candy paint.

THis layout of Cooper was done at the crop I organised at Pecky's on Saturday. The stamps are Keiser Stamps and the inked stars are from SALT.

The cover was made from white paper that I tie-dyed using a pipette and watered down paint. This is such a cool technique as you never get the same pattern twice.

THis is another version of the mini album using cardstock weight double sided patterned paper.

I made it using a single sheet of cardstock. The folding and cutting lines are easily seen in the above photo. I made the caovers from chipboard covered in patterned paper.. So easy. This is my birthday book.

Everybody who knows me in the scrapbooking world knows how much I love mini-albums. I am always making them or designing them. Here is one I did earlier this year. I didn't design this one but saw it in a book making book.

What a week. Everybody in my family has been sick. Thanks Cooper for bring the bug home.I am so over washing sheets etc.

Yesterday after school I stayed back and did a lesson on making sweets. It was fun but you need patience. Something I do not have. i like it done now but with sweet making you need to wait until it reaches a certain temperature. This is something I will do when I retire. We made Russian Caramels, Honeycomb and Pepermint Lollies.

Cuttlebug already texture paper.

Textured cardstock can also be put through the Cuttlebug. It tends to flatten some of the areas which adds dimention. I inked the centre of the flower and Kindy Glitzed it.

Cuttlebug Vellum

Vellum is great to put through the Cuttlebug. It can also be inked and chalked if you wish.

Cuttlebug transparencies

This card was made by putting a transparency through the Cuttlebug. I also used some Staz -On to highlight the centre of one of the flowers.

Elissa Rose

In loving memory of my granddaughter Elissa Rose
