I don't mind that it is a little blobby in parts. It is only a background in which I can add items.
Now that I have found a few new uses for these I am very happy with them.

Gesso and Impasto and Spellbinders

Spellbinders Impressabilities-Flowers with a thick coat of Gesso over the top.

Take the metal template off carefully and wash it immediately. Allow the Gesso and cardstock to dry before painting, inking etc.

Same as above but with Impasto.

This is slightly thicker than the Gesso but still much the same effect.

I cut the shape out with a curved, freehand line. I also inked with a cloth the area in different parts with different Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

I rubbed Chrystallina Kindy Glitz over the top and allowed to dry. I can now do anything I like with this.
I have not been happy with these Spellbinders Impressabilities and thought that I needed to do something with them to justify spending money on them. I decided to use them like I do stencils and I am more than happy now. Don't worry about being messy, it adds to the finished result.

Mixed Media Tag

Here is another tag I made using a variety of different media.

Leaves

1. Cuttlebug some scraps of painted cardstock.

2. Draw on the back a leaf shape.

3. Cut leaf out.

4. Crease up the middle to give dimension.

5.Glue in place.

Flower

1. Cut 3 circles by hand from calico.  
2. Rub Gel Medium over front and back of the flowers and allow to dry.
3. Spray each piece of calico with the Tim Holtz Color Wash and crinkle up while damp.
4. Pinch up the centre and spray with Espresso Colour wash while holding the nozzle close to the calico.
Background

The Gel Medium gives the flower a shine and it allows the moulding of the fabric to occur. I LOVE Gel Medium.

Color Wash Technique

The equipment used to make the background. These mats are awesome. Just wipe and it is clean.

Spray the mat with one colour

Spray the mat with the second colour

Lay a piece of paper on the top and gently pat.

Pull the paper off and let dry before you use it.

The Flower
This flower has been made from Calico. I cut 3 circles freehand and put a brad in the centre to hold the flower petals together.
I sprayed it with Tim Holtz Color Wash and crinkled it while it was wet.
When the petals dry they stay crinkled.
Background
I sprayed  brown and orange Color Wash onto a mat.
I then lay a piece of cream cardstock on the wash and allowed the colours to soak into the cardstock.
I put it through the Cuttlebug.

My yr 12 gave me a surprise birthday party and this was the cake. Love the writing "18-----with 40 years experience"

Fabric Flowers

These 2 flowers have been made from Calico. They have a different feel and look. This depends on what media is used to form them. Instructions will follow for each of them.

Mixed Media Tag

This close up shows the cracks of the crackle paint and the ridges of the texture paste.

This tag was made using the technique I outlined in the previous tutorial. The flower has been made from 3 pieces of fabric cut into circles of the same size. I put a brad in the centre to hold them together. I spritzed the layers of fabric with Glimmer Mist and scrunched them up and allow them to dry scrunched. The leaves have been made from the cardstock that was an off cut from the background card. I bent the leaves to give them a 3D effect.

Impasto technique with the Cuttlebug

1. Put a blob of Matisse Impasto onto a piece of cardstock. Then put another sheet of cardstock the same size on top of the texture paste (Impasto) . Then run it through the cuttlebug with it sandwiched between the 2 B plates. Allow to completely dry before altering it.

2. Paint Black Gesso all over the textured cardstock and allow to dry.

3. Dampen a cloth and rub off the excess Gesso. Then with a dry cloth keep on rubbing until you have what you want. The damp cloth causes a watermark effect in some places. Yes I know it looks like Mickey. My 4 yr old Grandson has already pointed it out.

4. Spritz with Tim Holtz Color wash, Espresso and allow to dry. Then paint randomly Tim Holtz Crackle paint over part of the area.
This can be used to make tags, embellishments, cards etc.

My Mother

It has been 8 years today that my Mother died from cancer. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and my Father. I miss them so much. I know they are together in Heaven and I will see them again one day. Until then, I will miss them and look forward to our times together again. I had the best parents.
My Mother didn't quite reach my 50th birthday. She died the day before. 

With Sympathy Card

Often people find it hard to make a Sympathy Card. Often plain is best. What is important is the message you put inside. Letting a friend or relative know you are there and care both for them and the deceased is so  important.

Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

I made this flower from carpet fibre.
Method
1. Knife some Matisse Texture paste in the area where you want to lay your fibre down.
2. Wrap the fibre around your fingers and make a flower. Make sure you leave enough to form a stem.
3. Lay the fibre flower in the texture paste and allow to dry.
4. I used Terra Cotta and Brown Color Wash by Tim Holtz over the top of the flower. I used a Teflon mat so there was no mess.
5. I make the leaves from a piece of cardstock I sprayed with the Color Wash.
6. When the flower was completely dry i ran Bronze Kindy Glitz around the edges.

Heart Flower Tutorial

Punch or cut 10 hearts in double sided paper and one circle.

Fold the hearts in half and begin gluing them  from the centre.

Keep gluing the folded hearts until you have covered the circle.

Roll one edge of the heart to expose the colour on the back of the folded heart.

I used Gel Medium as the glue. I then put a button in the centre after the flower was finished. There are so many possibilities for this flower.
