Look what my students made for me the other day. A few of my year 11s did this. How sweet. Made my day. They put effort into making this. This is what teaching is all about,making a difference.
This tag was cut using Tim Holtz Alterations. I used cream metallic cardstock from SALT and inked it all over with Scattered Straw Distress Ink. The flowers were cut from cream metallic cardstock also and inked with Distress inks. The flowers were cut on the Cuttlebug from a Spellbinders die. The pearls and sentiment are Kaisercraft products.
I was showing a lady at a crop a few weeks ago how to make tissue flowers out of circles. She came up with making them out of squares. Very affective done with squares.
I have decided to play with all the folded cards. These folds make life very interesting. There all sorts of messages and photos that can go into these cards to make the receiver smile or be delighted with every unfold.
Here are Donna's pages for our circle journal swap. I had to redo them as my grandson Cooper had tried to alter them.
These photos were taken by Daphne from Daph-a dils Photography. They show me teaching a flower class in May.
Love these die cuts that Tim Holtz designed. I have used metallic cardstock to cut them out and the same with the Spellbinders flowers. I have used Tim Holtz distress ink to ink the flowers and Kaisercraft bling to add accents. Also Kaisercraft wooden stamp for the sentiment.
What a combination!!!!! They all get on so well together.
1. I used a foam block that I heated and then pressed into a Cuttlebug embossing folder.
1. Spread Gel Medium all over the patterned paper and lay the negatives on top. The trim to fit the page.
2. Ink with Walnut distress Ink all over. The Gel Medium forms a resist and the patterned paper under the negative butterfly does not accept the ink.
3. Close up of the inked sheet. I like how the joins appear darker. Adds interest.
This image shows a close up of the altered Cuttlebug negatives and positives that I played with other night. There are so many possibilities with these negatives.
Every year I think of my parents when these flowers bloom. My Mother loved her flowers and this tree was in our yard at Warner's Bay where I grew up. When we all moved down to Sydney they brought it with them. My Mother decided to throw some of the new plants out and my father always did the big pruning. I salvaged this one out of the Otto and brought it home and planted it in a pot. It hasn't grown into a big tree but big enough to get blooms every year. Not a day goes by that I don't think of them and miss them.
5. Assemble the card as you wish. I have used all SALT cardstock in this card and Kaisercraft bling.
4. Using the cloth or wipe from the previous step, wipe over the Cuttlebugged shapes that will go on your page and allow to dry.
3. Paint the whole page with Gesso and then with a damp cloth or wipe , wipe as much of the Gesso off the page as you want. This will tone down the colours and make them more subdued. Don't throw away the loth or wipe as you will need this for the next step.
2. Trim the overlaps so the page looks neat and tidy.
1. Run Gel Medium (glue) all over the page and then lay the negatives on top of the wet glue page.
I love these circle journal pages from Sharon. I also love the complimentary colours she used.
Here is the boy version of the lesson I taught yesterday. The ladies did the girl version. Everybody enjoyed making the flowers.
I had a great time yesterday at Riverstone crop. The ladies loved their make and takes I did and the kids enjoyed making the mini album. Here is the table with some of the work from 4 of the ladies. We did the girl layout I showed the other day.
One of my beautiful girls from last year's year 12 came for a visit the other day and brought me these lovely flowers. It made my day.
This time I put blobs of Kindy Glitz randomly on some cardstock and then put the plain paper on top of the Glitz and ran it through the Cuttlebug. This is the design I ended up with. I will make a card from this later and share. So many possibilities.
